Why Manic Meltdown?
As we choose a new framework for the re-launch of Manic Meltdown; the image of the Buddha (which calms me always…) spoke to me as being the perfect thing. At the same time, it seemed to be in contradiction, because all Buddhist teachings of course stand in opposition to what we might think of as a “manic meltdown.”
And then it came clear. When one “melts down” the mania of modern life – the fear, the worry, the constant running around and doing every minute, every second, every hour (which most of us in the western world do constantly…) what is left, then, is the Buddha nature. There is a place, within us all, that is serene, unchanging….and free.
And like everything else that is worth having or knowing or seeing: this is far easier to talk about than to achieve.
I do not claim to be a Buddhist expert. This site is simply an eclectic blend from my particular brand of mania. I will share some of the things I think others will benefit from; including what I know about Buddha.
One of my favorite Buddhist writers is a nun from Nova Scotia named Pema Chödrön. She wrote:
“You are the sky. Everything else – it’s just the weather.”
Be in touch with your sky. Welcome back to Manic Meltdown.
